How Claude gift code redemption works (and what can go wrong)

• Web only. Redemption happens at claude.ai/gift/redeem in a browser. The iOS and Android apps can't redeem codes — if you're on your phone, use the mobile browser, not the app.
• 365-day expiry. Codes expire one year after *purchase* (not after delivery to you). Redeem promptly; there's no benefit to sitting on a code.
• Right account, right moment. The subscription lands on whichever account is signed in when you redeem. Sign in to the account that should get it *before* opening the link.

• Open a web browser and sign in at claude.ai — create the account first if it doesn't exist yet.
• Go to claude.ai/gift/redeem (or click the redemption link from the delivery email directly).
• Confirm the plan and duration shown, and accept.
• The subscription is active immediately; usage limits update right away.

Already subscribed? If the receiving account already has an active paid plan, the gift generally extends or queues rather than overlapping — but if you're planning to redeem a *different* plan than you currently have (say, a Max code on a Pro account), check how claude.ai presents it on the redemption screen before accepting.

Code says invalid or already redeemed? If it arrived that way from a reseller, that's a refund case — report it within the reseller's window (48 hours for us) so they can verify against the purchase receipt. Our refund policy covers this explicitly.

Wrong account redeemed it? Redemption is final on Anthropic's side. Neither we nor any reseller can move a redeemed subscription between accounts — which is why rule 3 above matters.
