How to buy a Claude subscription with crypto (step by step)

Anthropic doesn't accept cryptocurrency. claude.ai takes card payments only — so if you hold crypto and don't have a usable card, you can't subscribe directly. The practical workaround is a gift-code reseller: you pay in crypto, the reseller buys an official gift subscription at claude.ai/gift with their own payment method, and you receive the official redemption link by email.

This guide explains exactly how that works end to end, what it costs, how long it takes, and how to tell a legitimate reseller from a scam. It applies to any reseller, including our own store — we'd rather you understand the process than trust anyone blindly.

What you're actually buying: an official gift code

Anthropic sells gift subscriptions at claude.ai/gift for Claude Pro, Max 5x and Max 20x, in 1, 3, 6 and 12-month durations. A gift purchase produces a redemption link that anyone can redeem on their own Claude account at claude.ai/gift/redeem.

That's the entire trick: the reseller isn't reselling account access, sharing logins, or doing anything inside your account. They buy a gift like any customer, and you redeem it like any gift recipient. The subscription itself comes from Anthropic, on your own account, with nothing unusual about it.

Two properties of gift codes matter before you buy: codes expire 365 days after purchase, and redemption only works on the web version of claude.ai — not in the iOS or Android apps.

The order flow, step by step

Here's the full lifecycle of a crypto order, using our flow as the example (other resellers are similar):

  • Pick a plan and duration. Pro ($20/mo base), Max 5x ($100/mo base) or Max 20x ($200/mo base), for 1–12 months. A serious reseller shows the full price breakdown — base price, markup, payment fee — before you commit.
  • Pay the invoice. A payment processor (we use NOWPayments) generates an invoice in your chosen coin with an exact amount and address. Send exactly that amount. On-chain confirmation takes anywhere from seconds (SOL, TRX) to ~30 minutes (BTC).
  • Fulfillment. After the payment reaches 'finished' status, a human buys the gift at claude.ai/gift. This is manual by design — automated purchasing violates Anthropic's terms and gets accounts banned, which would kill your code.
  • Delivery and redemption. The redemption link arrives by email (ours within 12 hours, usually much faster). Sign in to claude.ai on the web, open claude.ai/gift/redeem, paste the link, done.

What it costs and why

Expect to pay 8–15% over the official price. The markup covers the reseller's card costs, payment-processor fees (crypto processors charge 0.5–1%), refund risk, and the manual labor of fulfillment. Anything dramatically cheaper than the official price is a red flag, not a deal — the economics of legitimately buying codes at retail don't allow it.

Watch for the breakdown. A trustworthy checkout itemizes what you pay; a scam quotes one number and hopes you don't ask.

How to vet a reseller before sending crypto

Crypto payments are irreversible, so do this diligence *before* paying, not after:

  • A written refund policy with concrete terms — a delivery SLA, what happens on invalid codes, how refunds are paid. Ours is here.
  • Honesty about being unofficial. Any site implying it *is* Anthropic is lying to you about the most basic fact of its business.
  • A real payment processor (NOWPayments, BTCPay, CoinGate) rather than a bare wallet address on the page.
  • No 'instant delivery' claims. Legitimate manual fulfillment takes time. Instant delivery at scale implies either pre-purchased code inventory (possible but ask how) or stolen-card codes that will be revoked.
  • Order tracking. You should get an order page and email updates, not just a wallet address and silence.

Common problems and how they resolve

Underpayment is the most common hiccup: your exchange deducts its withdrawal fee and the invoice receives slightly less than required. The order holds in an 'underpaid' state until you top up the difference — send the exact invoice amount *plus* your wallet's network fee to avoid this.

Invalid or already-redeemed codes should be covered by the refund policy — report within the stated window (48 hours for us) and the reseller verifies against their purchase receipt.

Expired invoices simply cancel; nothing was charged and you can reorder.

Ready to buy?

If this matches what you need, our store sells all three plans in every duration, accepts 100+ coins, and publishes the refund policy and full Q&A up front. Start at the checkout.

One honest note we repeat everywhere: if you have a working card, buy directly at claude.ai/gift instead — it's cheaper and instant. Resellers exist for people who genuinely can't.
